Every site is different. In one the constraint is connection capacity; in another, power charges, continuity of production, backup power or price variation. We always start with energy use, technical limits and business objectives as one picture.

Load and power-profile analysis

We review electricity use, demand peaks, the grid connection, the network service contract and planned changes. We identify where power is used, when load rises and what is holding growth back.

Comparison of technical options

We compare options that fit the site: energy storage, load control, an electric boiler, thermal storage, solar PV, backup power or dispatchable generation. The aim is not to sell a device, but to find a working system.

Economics and deliverability

We assess capital need, operating cost, main revenue streams, savings potential, technical constraints and risk. The decision pack is written for both operations and the people who approve the investment.

Site calculations rest on the consumption data available, technical inputs and agreed assumptions. A historical simulation is not a forecast of future returns.

Energy storage and flexibility

Energy storage can serve several purposes at once

The value of storage often comes from several purposes. It can support connection capacity, cut demand peaks, smooth load, improve power quality and take part in the electricity markets when capacity is free.

Peak shaving

Storage can cover short demand spikes and reduce billed peak power. The benefit depends on the load profile and the power charges in the network contract.

Freeing connection capacity

A new production line, charging infrastructure, heat pump, electric boiler or equipment hall can in some cases fit inside the existing connection when peak power is managed with storage and load control.

Electricity-price optimisation

Energy can be stored at cheaper times and used when the price is higher. Economics depend on spreads, round-trip efficiency, the procurement model and how the site is operated.

Reserve markets

Unused capacity can, under certain conditions, be offered to the reserve markets. We assess fit from the technical design, availability, market rules and the customer’s own operating priorities.

Reactive-power control

An inverter-based solution can support reactive-power control and reduce charges from reactive-power excess. Fit is assessed against the site electrical system and the DSO’s terms.

Power quality and critical loads

Storage can support supply to critical loads and reduce the effect of disturbances on production. Backup and power-quality use is always designed separately against the electrical system, safety requirements and operating cases.

Using on-site generation

Use of solar or other on-site generation can be improved by storing energy for own use instead of exporting it in an unfavourable market.

Joint load control

Electric boilers, heat pumps, refrigeration, charging infrastructure and other flexible load can be combined with storage in one control scheme.

Automatic operation and monitoring

The system can be controlled against agreed operating limits, electricity price, power limits and market signals. Actual use is followed in dashboards and agreed reporting.

Backup power and dispatchable generation

When storage alone is not enough

At some sites storage alone will not solve power availability, reliability or continuity of production. We then assess options alongside storage, such as gas turbines, engine power plants, backup-power systems, thermal storage and load control.

Gas turbines and engine power plants

We help assess when dispatchable generation is a justified part of the site energy solution. The review covers required power, running hours, fuel options, emissions, the grid connection, heat use, permitting and the economic role of the investment.

Developing backup power

Backup power can be treated as part of a wider reliability solution. We establish critical loads, required duration, automatic start, paralleling, fuel logistics and possible joint use with storage.

Hybrid systems

Storage, a gas turbine or an engine power plant, solar PV, thermal storage and controllable loads can be combined so that each technology does the job it is best at.

Power adequacy in growth projects

If the connection power needed for new production, a data centre, charging infrastructure or other large load is not available at once, we assess temporary and lasting options that still allow growth.

Combined heat and power use

Where both electricity and heat are needed, we assess using produced heat in the process, in district heat or in thermal storage. That can change the overall economics of the solution.

Preparing delivery

We support the technical concept, supplier collaboration, procurement definition, the delivery timetable and coordination of permits and grid connection.

Questions worth asking before an energy project starts

What does the free assessment require from us?

We usually need at least 12 months of consumption data, the network service contract, details of the connection and transformer, and a description of planned changes. If backup power, a gas turbine or other generation is being assessed, we also need information on critical loads, reliability requirements and possible locations.

Is energy storage a fit for our site?

Storage is particularly relevant at sites with demand peaks, connection constraints, varying electricity prices, controllable loads, on-site generation or reliability needs. Fit and economics are always decided by a site-specific analysis.

When should backup power be considered?

Backup power is worth studying when the site has critical processes that stop production, spoil product or create a safety risk if supply is lost. Typical cases are process industry, data centres, cold chain, water treatment and other operations that cannot ride through an outage of minutes or hours. Storage covers short disturbances. Backup power is sized from how long the critical load must keep running and how fast the plant must start.

Can the same solution support both reliability and market participation?

At many sites yes, but the uses must sit in a clear order of priority. Critical production, backup, peak shaving and market participation may use the same capacity in different situations. Sizing defines how much capacity can safely be assigned to each use.

How quickly can a project move?

An initial assessment can usually be done in one to two weeks once the data is available. The timetable for a fuller feasibility study, sizing and investment case depends on the scope of the site. Delivery time is affected by equipment choices, grid-connection terms, permits and construction.
